Tell us about yourself and your brand?

My name is Dayo Aiyedun and I am the Creative Director of Day_idah. The brand Day_idah is for sophisticated women with a deep appreciation of timeless and elegant clothing. I work with the most luxurious fabrics and I focus on exquisite workmanship. My vision was always to provide beautiful and well-made clothes at affordable prices.

What made you decide to pursue a career in fashion?

I have always had a keen interest in fashion because my grandmother and then my mother were in the fashion industry. I used to go to my Mum's store after school and I loved being around the clothes. My move into the fashion industry full time was a gradual process with me starting off by designing outfits for just family and friends.

How long have you been involved in fashion industry?

I have been in the fashion industry for about 3 years on a full time basis

Your Designs are beautiful, how have you developed your style?

I have always had a classic sense of style and even when I was much younger I always gravitated towards elegant and timeless clothes and that's reflected in my designs.

What is most amazing thing about your Collection?

I believe the most amazing thing about my collection is that the pieces are elegant and timeless. The pieces in my collection are the type of clothes that even years from now my clients would gladly wear because they won't look dated.

Fashion is an expression of one's self and personal sense of style. It is simply the prevailing style or custom, as in dress or behaviour.

What type of people buys your designs?

My client is a woman of impeccable taste that appreciates effortless and timeless clothing. Age wise, my designs cut across deferent age groups and there is always something for everyone.

8. What are your favourite designs from your collections?

It's hard for me to narrow down my favourite pieces, because each outfit speaks to me in a different way. They all represent my growth as a designer

You based in the.... what do you love most about your country?

I am based in Nigeria and what I love the most about my Country is the high energy. There is never a dull moment here plus both the women and men love fashion and are always beautifully dressed.

What and who inspires you?

My biggest inspiration is God, he is the best designer of all time and he inspires me to believe I can achieve anything. So I constantly aim to improve my talent and myself. I also draw inspiration for my designs from nature.

What do you think are the current and future trends in fashion?

The Cape is one of the biggest fashion trends presently and I love it because it's a classic look. Tuxedos and suits for womenswear will be one of the future fashion trends.

What do you consider the most important facets of the fashion industry?

I think a thriving textile manufacturing industry because Textiles inspire design creation and even trends.

What are the challenges you are facing in the profession?

The majors challenges I have faced are the generally challenges that affect the running of small/medium scale businesses in Nigeria such as lack of stable electricity supply.

14. Any tips for aspiring designers?

My advise for aspiring designers is to be focused and not let the challenges on the way deter them.

15. What are your plans for your brand for the future?

I would love to grow my brand and become a household name both locally and internationally.

16. Tell us something interesting about you that nobody else knows?

I am excellent with my hands; I love stitching, beading and generally working on my designs by hand.
